Scope and starting selection
Available exact-code manufacturer painting-example colors selected; all uncoded-name approximations and supplies unchecked.
Artistic reconstruction/model painting example, not verified historical dinosaur coloration.
The X/XF store bottles shown here are Tamiya acrylic; the original numeric X/XF codes do not independently identify bottled chemistry. X-20A is offered only for these acrylic bottles. TS aerosol is a separate spray application and is never mixed wet with the bottled paints. Allow coats to dry and follow the paint maker’s application guidance.
The labeled painting example and the uncoded narrative suggestions are separate source choices. The same bottle may appear under more than one original entry; selected variants are counted and added only once. A checked exact-code card does not turn an uncoded name into an exact formula.
Original eye-painting sequence
- Paint the eye base brown and let it dry completely.
- Use black:white = 2:1 to outline the iris.
- Paint the iris black and add a small white highlight.
- Outline the eye with base skin color plus flat-black; the original gives no ratio.
- After the eye is fully dry, apply the transparent clear-orange coat.
The optional black-wash technique specifically recommends enamel paint. It calls for base color plus a drop of flat-black, thinned with the appropriate thinner. No exact enamel paint or enamel thinner is mapped here. The acrylic bottle candidates and X-20A do not establish an enamel-wash system.
For the general drybrush recipe, the printed ratio is base paint:white = 1:2. This is a generic technique. It does not instruct you to decant TS aerosol or mix a TS spray base with bottled acrylic white. Keep wet-mixed ingredients in a compatible paint system.
Manufacturer painting example
Use TS-46 Light sand for the separate base coat, then XF-57 Buff for the overall drybrush. The back drybrush uses XF-64 plus XF-2, followed by the printed diluted XF-1 wash. The belly uses XF-57 plus XF-2. Teeth use X-2 with diluted XF-2; feet use XF-1 and XF-57. Claws use X-1, with XF-2 or XF-57 as alternative highlights. No ratios are printed for these specific back or belly mixes.
Every printed mixture and adjustment
- General drybrushing: unspecified base paint + white. Ratio 1:2. Generic technique; do not silently assign TS spray and bottled white as compatible wet-mix ingredients.
- Eye iris outline: black + white. Ratio 2:1.
- Eye outline: base skin color + flat-black. No fixed ratio printed.
- Back drybrush example: XF-64 + XF-2. No fixed ratio printed.
- Belly drybrush example: XF-57 + XF-2. No fixed ratio printed.
- Optional black wash: base color + drop of flat-black + appropriate thinner. No fixed ratio printed. Enamel recommended by original.

Areas without a fixed source palette
- Cycad trees: refer to botanical reference photos; no specific source paints.
- Display base, bones, fallen tree and included human comparison figure: no exact color prescription in this complete original; do not invent a palette.
An approximate candidate is a shopping option, not a manufacturer equivalence. Color names do not prove matching pigments, sheen, opacity or dried appearance. Original ratios are retained, but a substitute mixture is untested. Make a separate test sample before using it on the model.
Assembly and supplies
Printed pages1–10: cover/background1–2; all assembly steps1–9 pages3–7; English/German/French painting pages8–10. Includes dinosaur both A/B poses, open/closed jaws, cycads/foliage, bones, fallen tree, base, nameplate and comparison figure.
Read the complete linked original before assembly; follow the diagrams for placement, part orientation and finishing order. The listed hobby supplies are optional purchases, not a claim that every item is manufacturer-required. Choose only what you need.
Dry-fit the parts before cementing, prepare seams, and paint details while they remain accessible. Follow the original’s attachment choices for the base and included figures.
Out-of-stock or unavailable products stay disabled. Each selected variant is counted and added once even if it serves several source entries. Digital swatches are screen references; they do not establish a dried paint color, metallic effect or mixture result.
