The P-38 Lightning placed the pilot and nose armament between two engine booms. Its twin-engine design combined range, speed and concentrated firepower in a distinctive airframe.
P-38Js played an important role in the Pacific air war. The kit’s three 1944 aircraft pair largely natural-metal surfaces with olive-drab anti-glare areas and individual markings associated with Bong, McGuire and MacDonald.
