Choose your path at Strixhaven and align yourself with one of the university’s five iconic colleges: Silverquill, Prismari, Witherbloom, Lorehold, or Quandrix. Each Prerelease Pack reflects its college’s unique identity, featuring a themed seeded booster and a Spindown™ life counter to represent your chosen school.

Your First Chance to Play the New Set

Prerelease weekend is your first opportunity to open packs from the newest Magic: The Gathering release and team up for an unforgettable sealed experience. Each team of two players builds two 40-card decks using their combined pool and battles together as a unit in Two-Headed Giant format.

Quick Info

• Format: Sealed Deck – Two-Headed Giant

• Teams of 2 players compete together as one "giant"

• Rounds: 3 rounds, best-of-one matches, 50-minute timers

• Entry Fee: $80 per team, includes 2 Prerelease Packs, participation packs and prizing for both players

• Ages: 13+ recommended, but kids under 13 can participate if teamed with a grown-up

What’s in a Prerelease Pack

Each player receives:

• 6 Play Boosters (14 cards per pack)

• 1 Foil Promo (Rare or Mythic Rare)

• 1 Deck Box

• 1 Spindown Life Counter

• All cards are yours to keep

Teams will combine both kits to build two 40-card decks from the shared pool.

Prize Support

• 1 Participation Pack per player

• 1 Win Pack per match win (awarded to each team member)

• Trade 3 Win Packs for a Collector Booster (Participation Packs not eligible)

• Plinko for Promos

Before you play…

There are a few things you need to prepare beforehand:

• Our community is super friendly to newer players, but this is not a learn-to-play event. Please complete the excellent, free tutorial on Magic Arena to learn the basics so you can hit the ground running!
• The Wizards Companion App (or the email address of your Wizards account). Play Arena? Great! Just use the email you signed up with!
• Your event ticket. We recommend buying in advance; we have limited space and pre-registering guarantees your seat. Can't make it? You can get a refund in store credit.

Cancellations/No-Shows

• Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before the event begins. If you are late you risk forfeiting your spot to waitlisted participants.
• If after purchasing a ticket you can no longer make the event, please cancel your ticket so that we can bring someone in off the waitlist!
• Cancelled / no-show tickets will be refunded in store credit only via digital gift card minus processing fees, and forfeit all promos and prizes.

At-Home Prerelease Available

Can’t make it to an in-store event? You can still get in on the fun from home. From April 17 through 23 (while supplies last):
