His newest mission may be his hardest yet: leading a brutal war against the Death Guard, where victory offers little glory and survival comes at a terrible cost. Duty demands that the Reach be reclaimed, and Ferren must lead the charge.

THE STORY

For more than ten years, the Khorsari Reach has remained cut off from the Imperium, trapped beyond warp storms surrounding the Great Rift. During that time, the Death Guard have seized its worlds, leaving devastation and death in the name of the Plague God. Yet these worlds belong to Ultramar, and they will not be abandoned.

Ferren Areios and the Ultramarines Sixth Company are sent to retake the Reach and purge the corruption spreading across its worlds. As the Death Guard fortify their positions and casualties climb, Ferren finds himself confronting the boundaries of his Chapter’s beliefs. Cut off within the Plague God’s territory, the reclamation fleet must fight for more than the worlds they came to save — Ferren must also fight to preserve the last remnants of his humanity.
