VOID 1680 AM is a 28-page experimental solo and collaborative storytelling zine by Ken Lowery, featuring cover art by Jordan Witt and custom radio design elements by Dylan Todd.
Set in the eerie space between broadcasts, the game casts you as a late-night radio host on a mysterious AM frequency. Using a deck of playing cards, a six-sided die, and a selection of music, you build playlists, take calls from strange “Callers,” and shape their unfolding stories across one or many broadcasts.
Each Caller brings their own voice, motives, and unresolved narrative threads—ones you are compelled to engage with as host. Over time, your interactions evolve into an ongoing web of stories that shift with each session, whether played as a one-shot or a continuing series.
The game includes rules for both single-session and long-term play, guidance for broadcasting your show as an Affiliate, and options to contribute your own Caller voices to a shared archive for other players to use.
Through music, chance, and improvisation, VOID 1680 AM transforms radio into a storytelling engine where every voice insists on being heard.
