Original painting recipes, materials and builder choices
Construction and optional painting
Rick Dom includes two different O runners, so check their runner names before cutting parts. Its articulated MP2 hands are ABS/PP: hold each finger at the root and move it slowly in the directions shown. Bandai advises against painting ABS and recommends water-based paint for the optional finish.
The kit includes the beam bazooka, giant bazooka, heat saber, pilot figures, jewel sticker and waterslide decals. Use water, tweezers and a cotton swab for the decals as directed; decal softener is an optional remedy for lifting decals. The Action Base 4 used in some display images is sold separately.
Materials in the parts list: PS: model armor/weapon runners including both O runner types; PE: M runner and PC-121 polycaps; ABS/PP: MP2 articulated hands; PUR: jewel sticker.
The original also shows optional panel lining without prescribing an exact paint or marker color or numerical product code.
The original recommends water-based paint and gives named ingredients without numerical H/C product codes. The water-based AK 3GEN store products below are optional approximate candidates, not manufacturer-specified paints or physically verified matches.

10 printed roles use 16 distinct named ingredients. 8 roles contain mixtures; 0 use separate paint layers. Original proportions describe the source paints. Ratios for these substitute pigments are unvalidated starting points: test and adjust a small dried sample. Unquantified additions remain unquantified. Keep undercoats and topcoats separate and let each layer dry.

Named ingredients and optional store candidates
12 mapped purchase cards and 4 disabled ingredient references cover all 16 named ingredients. Mapped cards represent 12 unique paint variants. Source-role counts are not purchase quantities. Each selected variant is added once, even if chosen for more than one source ingredient.
- Purple. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Purple AK11073. Purple is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- White. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic White AK11001. White is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- RLM75 Gray. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic RLM 75 AK11826. Manufacturer identifies AK11826 as RLM 75; source spelling retained and formulation remains approximate. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Black. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Black AK11029. Black is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Midnight Blue. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Strong Dark Blue AK11187. Strong Dark Blue has a very dark, near-black blue chart sample. It is an approximation to the Midnight Blue hue, distinct from Navy Blue; no manufacturer crosswalk is claimed. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Red. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Matt Red AK11092. Matt Red supplies an opaque red candidate; matte describes the candidate, not a proven source finish. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Shine Red. No sufficiently supported water-based Shine Red hue/finish candidate is established. Generic red does not establish its named hue or shine.
- Gray. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Neutral Grey AK11018. Neutral Grey is a generic gray approximation; it does not define the distinct named Neutral Gray source as an identical formulation. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Yellow. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Yellow AK11044. Yellow is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Clear Red. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Clear Red AK11213. Clear Red is a named transparent water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: transparent.
- Khaki Green. No candidate was established that resolves this source Khaki Green without imposing a more specific military standard. It remains distinct from Khaki and ordinary Green.
- Interior Green. The source does not specify which interior-green standard. US, RAF and Japanese interior colors are distinct and no exact standard is inferred.
- IJN Green. No maker code or calibrated IJN Green variant is specified. The original Japanese dark green[1] wording is retained without silently choosing D1 or D2.
- Light Gull Gray. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Light Gull Grey FS 16440 AK11866. Light Gull Grey is a named approximation; the candidate’s FS16440 label is its identity and is not retroactively assigned to the source. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Blue. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Deep Blue AK11182. Deep Blue supplies an opaque blue candidate, with untested depth and pigment strength. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Violet. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Deep Violet AK11072. Violet is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
Optional supplies are recommendations for the tasks described above, not manufacturer-required purchases. The AK 3GEN thinner applies only to the AK 3GEN candidates. Do not paint materials the original warns against painting. Digital color squares are browsing aids; they do not prove dried color, pigment strength, sheen, metallic reflection, transparency or a successful mixture.
