Original painting recipes, materials and builder choices
Construction and optional painting
Aerial includes the beam rifle, beam sabers and the Escutcheon shield, which separates into parts for the Bit on Form arrangement. Choose the shell-unit sticker options during assembly: some are printed on the adhesive side and attach inside the clear parts. The printed F parts are ABS, and their finish can vary with the printing process.
Bandai recommends water-based paint and advises against painting ABS parts. Preserve the printed shell details and test the movable shield and armor connections before adding any optional finish. Use model nippers; tweezers help place the small stickers. Action Base 5 is sold separately.
Materials in the parts list: PS runners A, B1, B2, C, D and E; ABS F printed shell-unit parts.
In the original color chart, English Red madder is paired with Japanese モンザレッド (Monza Red). Both printed names are retained; this does not establish a modern numerical paint code or a tested substitute.
The frame-gray ingredient is printed as RLM75 Gray in English and RLM75 Gray Violet in Japanese. The recipe below retains the more explicit gray-violet name without assigning an H/C product number.
The original recommends water-based paint and gives named ingredients without numerical H/C product codes. The water-based AK 3GEN store products below are optional approximate candidates, not manufacturer-specified paints or physically verified matches.

8 printed roles use 13 distinct named ingredients. 8 roles contain mixtures; 0 use separate paint layers. Original proportions describe the source paints. Ratios for these substitute pigments are unvalidated starting points: test and adjust a small dried sample. Unquantified additions remain unquantified. Keep undercoats and topcoats separate and let each layer dry.

Named ingredients and optional store candidates
9 mapped purchase cards and 4 disabled ingredient references cover all 13 named ingredients. Mapped cards represent 9 unique paint variants. Source-role counts are not purchase quantities. Each selected variant is added once, even if chosen for more than one source ingredient.
- White. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic White AK11001. White is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Gray. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Neutral Grey AK11018. Neutral Grey is a generic gray approximation; it does not define the distinct named Neutral Gray source as an identical formulation. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Cobalt Blue. AK11201 Cobalt Blue is explicitly in the metallic range. The source ordinary Cobalt Blue does not establish a metallic effect, so that candidate is rejected.
- Midnight Blue. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Strong Dark Blue AK11187. Strong Dark Blue has a very dark, near-black blue chart sample. It is an approximation to the Midnight Blue hue, distinct from Navy Blue; no manufacturer crosswalk is claimed. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Yellow. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Yellow AK11044. Yellow is a named opaque water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Orange Yellow. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Golden Yellow AK11041. Golden Yellow supplies a warm yellow-orange approximation, distinct from Orange and Yellow. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Brown. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Deep Brown AK11102. Deep Brown supplies a generic brown approximation, kept distinct from Pale Brown, Mahogany and Wood Brown. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- Red Madder. The source gives a named Red Madder ingredient without a numeric product code; some originals pair the English with Japanese Monza Red. No matching formulation is established.
- RLM75 Gray Violet. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic RLM 75 AK11826. Manufacturer identifies AK11826 as RLM 75 and the primary chart shows gray-violet. No H/C code is inferred. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: matte.
- IJN Gray (1). The numbered IJN Gray (1) source distinction does not establish an AK J3/amber-gray standard. No candidate is chosen.
- Dark Gray (2). The numbered Dark Gray (2) distinction is unresolved; generic Dark Grey is not presented as this named specification.
- Metallic Green. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Metallic Green AK11205. Metallic Green is a named metallic water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: metallic.
- Gold. Approximate candidate: 3G Acrylic Gold AK11191. Gold is a named metallic water-based candidate. Exact source formulation and dried appearance are untested. Family: AK 3rd Generation. Finish/effect: metallic.
Optional supplies are recommendations for the tasks described above, not manufacturer-required purchases. The AK 3GEN thinner applies only to the AK 3GEN candidates. Do not paint materials the original warns against painting. Digital color squares are browsing aids; they do not prove dried color, pigment strength, sheen, metallic reflection, transparency or a successful mixture.
