Metal Color is a new range of metallic colors with water-based formulation, which use aluminum pigments. The Metal Color has a wide variety to mimic the metal finish of aircrafts that come in all shapes and sizes, of all types and eras. With innovative brightness and reflection, Metal Color allows the modeler to use multiple painting techniques without calling for enamels and lacquers. It can be used directly on the model using an airbrush or diluted with Vallejo's Airbrush Thinner or Flow Improver for different effects.
Metal Color dries quickly and is perfect for detailed work. A few hours after application, it forms a hard layer that will not chip or peel off easily. Metal color can be tinted directly in the airbrush cup by using colors from Model Air or Game Air ranges to create an even more colorful model!
Though recommended to be used with an airbrush, Metal Color can also be used with a brush. We recommend setting your compressor for these colors around 15-20 PSI or 0.5-1 kg. To enhance the special characteristics of the aluminum shades, it's advisable, in the case of airframes and aircraft model components, to use Gloss Black Primer. Though Metal Color dries quickly, it's advised to wait 12 hours for paint to cure before applying paint masks.
