The development of the C-2A Greyhound began in 1962 as a carrier-based transport aircraft of the US Navy. The main parts such as the main wings and engine of the E-2 Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning aircraft were diverted and the fuselage was redesigned. In 1967, only 17 early models were produced and discontinued.
