Major Dmitri Mitchell was chosen to pilot one of the two F-15Es at Lakenheath that were specially painted in the WW2 "Invasion Stripes" to take part in the D-Day 75th Anniversary Heritage Flight over Normandy in 2019.
Dmitri went aloft that day in the F-15E with red tail flash and when Revell released their brand new tool of the 1/72 F-15E Strike Eagle they used the plane that he flew that day for the box art.
