A new normal...

A new normal...

By Danielle Adams on 16th Apr 2021

The pandemic completely changed our lives and it took some time for us to reorganize it in a way that worked. Time felt different and for a long time it felt like we were not living so much as waiting.

We have two teenagers at home and Rudy and I were in the very early stages of our new life together. There were a lot of compelling reasons to normalize our lives and to stop waiting for our old one to show back up. With no guarantees of tomorrow, holding off living felt foolish.

One way we re-organized our lives was to fill a lot of our time riding bikes. It did wonders for us mentally and physically and was a huge part of our Spring and Summer last year. But then it got cold and then we started LionHeart Hobby and once again, we have been in a state of figuring out our "new normal".

It has struck me recently that THIS is our life. There is no more waiting for us. Yes, there are things to come. The pandemic will end. Eventually we will move to a larger space. There will be more complexity added to what we are doing. But THIS is our life. I can't keep waiting for something to be different. If I need new eyeglasses, I have to make that appointment rather than wait for some different life where time for eyeglass appointments makes perfect sense. If we want to stop eating fast food for every lunch, we have to figure out how to do that while we are running the business. If we want exercise, the weather is beautiful and we need to get back on the bikes!

Change has been so constant in our lives the past year that it definitely feels like the mundane is always being shelved for the urgent matters that show up day to day.

LionHeart Hobby is amazing and delightful for me and Rudy. It also takes a lot of our time, as new businesses will! We are learning that if we want space for activities outside of the day-to-day administrative tasks we must, once again, carve them out from this "new normal".

And so we are.

This week, we hosted a virtual paint event where 11 people spent a Sunday afternoon painting a miniature, visiting, getting to know each other, and having a great time. Friendships are forming and will do this every month now!

A new normal.

This week, we found time to visit with our vaccinated friends and play board games. We had so much fun we talked about making it a regular activity.

A new normal.

This week we made a commitment to start eating healthier again and we got back on our bikes. We aren't waiting for some different and distant future where our lives will "calm down" and "things will be easier".

This is our life.

THIS is our normal.

We love it and are so glad you are part of it. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
